Frequently Asked Questions

Does my policy provide cover for valuables?

All of our travel Insurance policies provide cover for valuables as standard under the Baggage section.

Valuables are defined as:

  • Cameras and camcorders
  • CDs, DVDs, tapes, films, cassettes and cartridges
  • Computer games and associated equipment
  • Furs
  • Gold, silver and precious metal articles
  • Headphones
  • Jewellery
  • MP3 and MP4 players
  • Photographic, audio, video, computer, television and telecommunications equipment (excluding mobile phones)
  • Portable satellite navigation systems
  • Precious and semi-precious stone articles
  • Watches
  • Telescopes and binoculars

As valuables are considered high-risk items, an additional level of care must be taken to avoid loss or theft. For example, cover is not provided for valuables that are left unattended when:

  • stored inside a vehicle at any time
  • carried within checked-in baggage in the care of the carrier, tour operator or transport operator

Please note that mobile phones are not covered under the Baggage section of our travel insurance policies.

Our Gadget cover optional add-on can provide cover for mobile phones, as well as a greater level of protection for your gadgets during your trip.

For full details, including valuables limits and gadget criteria, please refer to the Baggage and Gadget cover sections of our travel insurance policy wordings. Your policy schedule will confirm if you opted to include Gadget cover when your policy was purchased.
